Jim Morrison
Jim Morrison
When you think Icon, you think 60’s -70’s music. Jim Morrison was a major figure in that period of time. This piece is part of my pop portraits collection. My inspiration is not to just reproduce a famous iconic portrait but to do it in the style and color that I see with the photo. What turns it from a photo into art. It’s not just about the photo but who the person was what color I see when I think of them, how is the specific photo going to look best? These are all questions I ask myself when beginning to draw. In this case Jim Morrison I felt has a darkness surrounding him, a brilliant and talented musician in a time of turmoil and protest. A man who lost his life very young. I felt as if there was a fire under him which is where the reds and oranges came in but saw the picture with not a lot of colorful detail. This piece is 28”x24” alcohol ink on Yupo Paper comes in art tube. It has no matte or frame with it but will look best matted and framed.
